Our story

From one hillside to a full-chain operation

Kinalur Rock Sand began as a single hillside quarry near Kozhikode and has grown into a full-chain mining, crushing and processing business, without losing the habits that started it. We operate our own quarry faces and crushing units, so the material we deliver is graded, tracked and quality-checked from the rock face to the truck.

We are headquartered at Appunni Arcade, Agastiamuzhi, near Axis Bank, Kozhikode—close enough to our own quarry faces to walk the sites we run, and near enough to our neighbours to answer for how we run them.

Who runs the operation

Led from the quarry face, not just the office.

Between them, our leadership carries a mining engineer's training and more than four decades of hands-on quarry experience.

Sukumaran

Head of Mining & Mineral Processing

Sukumaran began working in mining at age 13 and has spent over 40 years in the industry since. His feel for frugal, practical problem-solving, his commitment to the communities around our sites, and his record of setting up and scaling mining projects through difficult conditions make him the person who keeps our operations running. He leads mining and mineral processing across the company.

Vishnu

Mining Engineer · Second-generation Miner

Vishnu grew up around the family's mining operations and trained formally as a mining engineer, pairing that academic grounding with real experience of building new mining sites from scratch and turning around operations that weren't performing. He pushes the business toward newer technology and more sustainable working methods, and leads execution on that front.
